This academic year, Koinonia Academy started an Interscholastic Co-Ed Golf Team. The team consists of 11 students – 8 boys and 3 girls. The team practiced two to three times a week starting in mid-March and at the driving range on the weekends. All the golfers worked very hard at practice and dedicated themselves to improving their golf game. The enthusiasm for the golf team at the school and among the team members was off the chart. Every member of the team was able to compete in at least one golf match this season.
The golf team finished the year with a 5-2 record defeating some long-established programs in Roselle Park, Hillside, Elizabeth, Roselle, and Plainfield. In our last match of the season, the team came very close to defeating Arthur Johnson in Clark. Our #1 golfer, Patrick Murray, finished the year with a strong scoring average of 40. The goal next year is continued improvements among all 11 team members as well as adding some new team members from throughout our high school. Coach Postiglione's goal is to have Koinonia compete against the best teams in Union County.
